You’ll hear from Curt B. Haselton, PhD, PE, professor of civil engineering at California State University, Chico. Dr. Haselton will present his research on “Chapter 16, Nonlinear Response-History Analysis for the Design of New Buildings.”
Co-founder of Haselton Baker Risk Group and the Seismic Performance Prediction Program (SP3), Haselton’s research is in the area of performance-based earthquake engineering, with focuses on building code development, collapse safety assessment, ground motion selection and scaling, damage and loss estimation, and the treatment of uncertainties. He recently served as chair of the BSSC team that is rewriting Chapter 16 of ASCE/SEI 7-16, Minimum Design Loads for Buildings and Other Structures.
This webinar will provide an overview of efforts to fully rewrite Chapter 16 for ASCE 7-16, entitled “Seismic Response-History Procedures.” Chapter 16 specifies the response-history analysis design procedures, including ground motion requirements, structural modeling requirements and acceptance criteria. The webinar will cover each aspect of the new design procedure, along with the associated background regarding the basis for each requirement.
