National Security Council’s Senior Director for Resilience Policy to Keynote Building Innovation

Alice C. Hill, Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Resilience Policy on the White House National Security Council, will deliver the opening keynote address Wednesday, January 13, during Building Innovation 2016 – the National Institute of Building Sciences Fourth Annual Conference & Expo. As the leader of the team responsible for developing resilience policy, including resilience to the impacts of climate change, Judge Hill’s unique perspective on implementing resilience initiatives in the United States and abroad will build on the event’s theme of Achieving a Resilient Future.

Judge Hill led the development of Presidential Executive Orders directing the incorporation of climate resilience considerations into international development; increased coordination of federal efforts in the Arctic; and the establishment of a national flood risk management standard. Prior to joining the National Security Council, she served as Senior Counselor to the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS). In that position, Hill provided advice and counsel on broad public policy issues directly impacting the nation’s security.

Programming for Building Innovation 2016, which takes place next week, January 11-15, in Metro Washington, D.C., is designed to engage and educate the broad audience of building industry professionals and present diverse and informative perspectives on resilience during the weeklong event. Judge Hill’s opening keynote address, held day three of the Conference, will kick off the first day of educational sessions and present attendees with a clear vision on what it takes to achieve resilience in buildings and communities.

Judge Hill joins a lineup of more than 100 industry leaders and experts who will address the audience at Building Innovation 2016. The Conference program includes two tracks, five symposia, the Workshop on Building Science Education, the Academy for Healthcare Infrastructure Forum, the Beyond Green™ Awards Luncheon, an exhibit hall, a banquet and numerous opportunities to network with industry leaders and experts in their fields.
